AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors are invited to submit original manuscripts to KITABHAK: Journal of Islamic Family Law and Islamic Criminal Law. All submissions must comply with the following guidelines:

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The article should be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia.
  • The manuscript must be relevant to the journal’s focus on Islamic family law, Islamic criminal law, kitab kuning, and pesantren-based legal studies.
  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the content and references.

2. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be organized as follows:

  • Title (clear, concise, and informative)
  • Author(s) Name(s) and Affiliation(s)
  • Abstract (150–250 words, in English)
  • Keywords (3–5 keywords)
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review (optional but recommended)
  • Research Methodology
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References

3. Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be 5,000–8,000 words in length.
  • Use A4 paper size, with 1.5 spacing, and Times New Roman (12 pt).
  • Margins: Top 3 cm, Bottom 3 cm, Left 3 cm, Right 3 cm.
  • Use justified alignment and standard paragraph indentation.
  • Foreign terms (Arabic or others) should be italicized where appropriate.

4. Citation and References

  • Use APA Style (7th Edition) for citations and references.
  • All references cited in the text must appear in the reference list.
  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • Include recent and relevant references, preferably from reputable journals.

5. Arabic Transliteration

  • Arabic terms should follow a recognized transliteration standard (e.g., based on academic conventions used in Islamic studies).
  • Authors are encouraged to ensure consistency throughout the manuscript.

6. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online system (OJS).
  • Authors must register and log in before submitting their manuscript.
  • The submission file should be in .doc or .docx format.

7. Peer Review Process

  • All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process.
  • The editorial board reserves the right to accept, revise, or reject manuscripts.
  • Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.

8. Publication Ethics

  • The journal follows strict publication ethics to prevent plagiarism, data fabrication, and unethical practices.
  • Manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin.
  • Any form of academic misconduct will result in rejection.

9. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • Information regarding publication fees (if applicable) will be provided on the journal website.

10. Copyright and License

  • Authors retain copyright but grant the journal the right to publish the work.
  • Articles may be distributed under an open-access license as determined by the journal.
